eric content director to chair BSME for second year
The British Society of Magazine Editors has announced that eric’s content director Alex Mead will become the first person to chair the prestigious organisation for a second year.
The BSME remains the only organisation exclusively dedicated to editors of magazines and websites with its awards a highlight on the calendar for the industry. In 2018, Alex’s first year, it hosted events covering a wide range of topics relevant to modern-day editors, including podcasts, events and future trends. Its annual Talent Awards was hosted at the stunning LaLit London hotel, the summer party at Somerset House and its main awards featured Rachel Parris as co-host at The Sheraton Grand London Park Lane Hotel.
“I was incredibly proud to be chair of the BSME in 2018, so to be voted in for a second year is a great honour,” says Alex, who will be joined by Laura Rowe of Olive, and Maria Pieri of National Geographic Traveller as vice chairs. “This year at the BSME awards we had editors representing the widest range of topics ever, truly reflecting the changing face of the magazine landscape – together with a brilliant committee, I’m excited about the calendar of events we’re developing to further support the excellent editors we have in the UK.”
Editors to have previously held the position of chair at the BSME include Dylan Jones, Jane Bruton, Lisa Smosarski, Jane Johnson, Ian Birch and Sue Peart.
