Calder-Mclaren joins eric and Rugby as commercial sales director

Jason Calder-Mclaren has joined eric as commercial sales director where he’ll be developing our work in multi-platform content monetisation with existing clients as well taking the commercial lead on Rugby, the new quarterly print journal.

With extensive experience in both digital and print, working across sport, finance and retail for the likes of Publicis and Dennis, Calder-Mclaren is the perfect fit for eric whose portfolio already includes omni-channel work for Crabtree & Evelyn, Rhino, Aropec, GolfTraveller and Crafty Devil Brewing Co.

“We’ve come a long way in just over a year, and adding Jason to our core team is part of the next phase of growth,” explains Jane Ditcham, eric’s business director. “Our team already has extensive experience in retail, and he complements that skillset perfectly. He’ll be not only helping our clients look at potential opportunities but also taking the commercial lead on Rugby.”

Jason added: “Rugby is a very clever publishing solution, offering both long-dwell premium content in a sophisticated journal and digital opportunities for audience targeting and data insight. Brands want and need to connect with the rugby-loving audience in a meaningful and effective way and this is the perfect format to do so. I’m thrilled to be involved in driving the business forward.”

eric launched Rugby earlier this month as the sport’s first premium journal at The Varsity Match at Twickenham. The first issue features British & Irish Lions flanker James Haskell, shot by Rick Guest, England stars Rob Andrew and Simon Halliday and Bath rugby legend Graham Dawe. With grassroots rugby key to its offering, Rugby also takes a photographic tour of the north of England club scene; spends a day with London Welsh; and visits the club with the most-capped coaching team but a garden shed for a clubhouse.
