eric relaunches MCC magazine
The first issue of the relaunched MCC magazine has hit the doormats of the cricket club’s illustrious Membership and received a hugely positive response.
Issue 19 of MCC magazine was eric’s first since winning the contract in a competitive pitch last year and saw the title receive a complete overhaul, both in terms of structure, design and editorial strands.
The issue was themed around the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, with the cover star, the famous Prudential Trophy, which was fought for in One-Day International tournaments from 1972 and was the World Cup trophy in 1975, 1979 and 1983. Other features included an exclusive with the legendary Graham Gooch, the origins of the Cricket World Cup and why India’s 1983 victory changed the face of the sport forever.
“Our clients care deeply about the history of cricket and we wanted to produce a magazine that reflects the rich source of storytelling that exists within the MCC’s archive, museum and library,” explains Alex Mead, eric’s content director. “We know the audience is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject of cricket, so we went to great lengths to ensure we told stories that we hope they hadn’t heard before, discovering new angles and also delivering a magazine that reflects the modern-day MCC.”
Working with eric is a very enjoyable and productive experience.
Neil Robinson, Library and Research Manager, and the lead client on MCC Magazine said: “We’ve been delighted by the positive response we’ve had from readers to our first issue with eric. On the first day it arrived I received three phone calls from Members expressing their delight with the new magazine. The last of them said he was ‘captivated’ by it (especially the piece on the 1983 final). The design and feel of the magazine is first-class and the whole process of putting the issue together was very straightforward. Working with eric is a very enjoyable and productive experience.”
The MCC Magazine is published twice yearly, with the next issue due out in October. Under the theme ‘Iconic’, it will not only include the biggest names in the world of cricket, but we will also will be canvassing Members to reveal their take on the most iconic moments of MCC history.
MCC joins an eric client list that includes Golf Gamebook, GolfTraveller, Rhino Sport, New Zealand Rugby and Cigna. eric also produces the quarterly journal Rugby.
